Hi, I’m Alison and I write New Life as New Wife.

I started "New Life as New Wife" in 2008 as a spin off to my wedding blog A Day in the life of a Rockstar Bride.

Like life, my blog has changed. My blog has now transitioned into the day-to-day challenges including how to save money, adjusting to life as a new home owner, and just recently, how to adjust to life after re-quitting my corporate job.

Prior to becoming a "grown-up", I spent the last 6 to 9 years as an IT professional, dance instructor and an awesome Rockstar wife.

Now, I walk dogs, teach yoga, teach dance and rockout as a the wife of a rockstar.

the Knitter

Sunday, January 2, 2011

For Christmas my mother bought me a knitter's started kit:

  • 2 x 6.0mm knitting needles
  • 2 x balls of yarm
  • 1 x beginner's knitting kit

The idea was to schedule a date with my mother to teach me, but .... I read the book and decided to embark on a knitting journey. I started with 40 stitches which became a disaster to manage, so out they came and I went down to 20 under my mother's insistent recommendation. I'm almost through the first ball of yarn on my very first grown-up scarf (I first learned how to know way back when) and although there are a number of visible oppsies, Im, starting to dig it.

So to all you knitters out there, what blogs/sites do you recommend for this beginner?

Hi there! I'm new to Blogger. I basically write an online journal, so it's really just my boring thoughts that are posted and nothing really insightful. I did come along yours when I typed in "new wife" since I am coming up on my one year anniversary I was interested in seeing someone else's "new life" as a "new wife"!

I crochet but I haven't done anything for two years or so. It took me three years to finish an almost queen size blanket. Very simple, very amateur, but very warm! I can tell you that you have already inspired me to look into stepping up my own weight loss and picking up my crocheting hobby again! So, thanks! Here is to 2011!
