Hi, I’m Alison and I write New Life as New Wife.

I started "New Life as New Wife" in 2008 as a spin off to my wedding blog A Day in the life of a Rockstar Bride.

Like life, my blog has changed. My blog has now transitioned into the day-to-day challenges including how to save money, adjusting to life as a new home owner, and just recently, how to adjust to life after re-quitting my corporate job.

Prior to becoming a "grown-up", I spent the last 6 to 9 years as an IT professional, dance instructor and an awesome Rockstar wife.

Now, I walk dogs, teach yoga, teach dance and rockout as a the wife of a rockstar.

What is your "vent it out" song?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

When I started at Company X in 2005, I spent 5 weeks of pure hell in MA on training. Every single emotion I had was tapped out beyond what is normal, and I can honestly say it took me 2 years to get back to the person I was before that experience. I won't go into much more detail as that's an experience I've chosen to keep close to me, but I will tell you I discovered the best songs to throw rocks at signs to. Yes. I did just write "throw rocks at signs".

When I was at my breaking point, what calmed me down was chucking rocks at a road sign (I can actually throw, just in case you think I throw like a girl.) The songs that really made my rock therapy session were:

Killing in the Name of - Rage Against the Machine.... a total given, I know. Actually, this whole album is great for therapy. That and a great album to clean the house to (so I've been told).

I started to appreciate Arcade Fire during this 5 week stink in hell, and "Rebellion Lies" calmed me down after the Rage album spun me out. Still a wicked Canadian band.

Now that I think of it, remember that scene in Dawson's Creek when Jen vents out by jumping on the couch to Baba O'Rielly? What an awesome scene that was. I'm also confidemt that it was this scene that convinced CSI:NY to use that song as a theme song.

So tell me, what are your "need to vent it out" songs?

My angry venting music is usually the Faceless cd by Godsmack, occasionally a little Papa Roach, The Paramour Sessions cd. :-D

Never had a vent song but I clearly see I should have maybe I would have coped better. It wasn't more than a month after graduating and starting my first job did I realize that I was in for a roller coaster ride of emotions. Isn't is crazy how work can change you make you more aggressive, angry, etc..? I can't wait to make my escape from corporate america..
