Hi, I’m Alison and I write New Life as New Wife.

I started "New Life as New Wife" in 2008 as a spin off to my wedding blog A Day in the life of a Rockstar Bride.

Like life, my blog has changed. My blog has now transitioned into the day-to-day challenges including how to save money, adjusting to life as a new home owner, and just recently, how to adjust to life after re-quitting my corporate job.

Prior to becoming a "grown-up", I spent the last 6 to 9 years as an IT professional, dance instructor and an awesome Rockstar wife.

Now, I walk dogs, teach yoga, teach dance and rockout as a the wife of a rockstar.

paint job

Monday, February 21, 2011

While hubby was out of town with his band, I decided to become an adult and do an adult project by painting our master bathroom.

This is the only decent before pic. Sorry

Decided to go with a grey/blue paint, and was planning to paint the vanity, but seeing as I'm forbidden to paint ANYTHING in our house, I decided to play it safe. The purple accent colour is my attempt to make my purple mantle feel loved by having a friend in the house.

Rockstar told me that he'd like to paint the vanity white to fit in a little bit more. I think I agree. Thoughts?

Now that I see this pic, this clock is way to small. It'll have to do until I find something larger.

This is Seamus's friend Sally. She seemed to like. Oh, the bath-mat won't be staying. That's the only option at this point.

Since I had half a gallon of paint left, I decided to do our mud room. Here are the before pics:

And after. I simply LOVE it!! The paint looks fab when the light shines through.

Originally I was thinking of painting the bench white, but then I found this wicker side table and decided the oak colour would stay. I like how it worked out.

I originally bought this pic for the bathroom, but it looks WAY better in the mudroom.

When I asked Seamus what he thought of the makeover, he was a little uncertain. I think he secretly loves it.

So there go you, my first grownup project and the only disaster was my hair!
