My mom gave us this garbage find years ago. At least that's what Rockstar tells me (I swear he found it, but I'm sure it was mom).
Originally I was going to brush paint this, but it took all of 30 seconds for that idea to fall by the waist-side. Too many nooks!! The solution? Bright purple spray paint!!
I love the result and find it compliments the purple mantle wonderfully.
The back of the mirror shows this was a Durwood piece, made by John Walter & Sons Ltd, in Kitchener ON. I googled the company, but looks like they are no longer in business (or they do NO marketing). All I found was this similar mirror on etsy, stating it be a 1950's - 1960's piece.
Makes me think of Alice in Wonderland, and I love how it turned out!
Next up, it the side board you see in the background. We're leaning toward glossy white, but I imagine we'll firm up our decision once we paint our front room (which I'm leaning toward a light yellow tone).
