Hi, I’m Alison and I write New Life as New Wife.

I started "New Life as New Wife" in 2008 as a spin off to my wedding blog A Day in the life of a Rockstar Bride.

Like life, my blog has changed. My blog has now transitioned into the day-to-day challenges including how to save money, adjusting to life as a new home owner, and just recently, how to adjust to life after re-quitting my corporate job.

Prior to becoming a "grown-up", I spent the last 6 to 9 years as an IT professional, dance instructor and an awesome Rockstar wife.

Now, I walk dogs, teach yoga, teach dance and rockout as a the wife of a rockstar.

Planning for zombies and more

Saturday, April 2, 2011

As I stated in my first post of my "wake up" series, my goal this week was to create goals for myself. I didn't want to think of goals based on fun, like my 30 by 31 series, but goals that will better myself.

Although not complete, here are the first few I have:

1. Emergency Plan. I want to line up our family emergency plan complete with food storage. You never know when the zombie takeover will start!! But seriously, I've been wanting to do this for a while. I came across this great website that will be my guide.

2. Budget. For the past couple of weeks I have been using my credit card ONLY for day-to-day purchases, and paying it off every 2 weeks. It seems to be working well, but I would like to sit down and figure out how much we can afford to spend monthly and continue to save. Being debt free, this will only help me get to retirement earlier.

3. Additional Money. I want to find a way to make an additional $100.00 min a month. Whether it be dog bording through my job, or selling buttons to Robin's dance kids, I want to take this extra money and put it towards my ongoing education (ie yoga courses).

4. PMI certification. Find creative ways to keep up my PMI certification. I worked to darn hard to let this slide and you never know when I will need it again.

5.Yoga for dancers. I want to market myself as a yoga for dancers specialist and teach at workshops and local competative studios. I love teaching yoga to everyone, but nothing beats working with kids who are strong and have incredible awareness of their body.

6.  Be published. I want to write an article on the benefits of yoga for competative dancers and have it published.

This list is just a start, but all something I can work on during my morning alone time.

Those are really good goals. I need to use the one about the credit cards! My ex won't do what he is supposed to with child support and he has got me behind. That is a really good tip!
